Our little green frog really gets around–and that’s good news for people and the planet. These days, you can find the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal on a rapidly growing list of products and services, including coffee, chocolate, tea, fruit, flowers, paper, furniture and tourism lodges.

Products bearing the seal originate on–or contain ingredients sourced from–Rainforest Alliance Certified farms or forests. These farms and forests are managed according to rigorous environmental, social and economic criteria designed to conserve wildlife; safeguard soils and waterways; protect workers, their families and local communities; and increase livelihoods. Tourism businesses that feature the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal meet the Rainforest Alliance comprehensive sustainability standards for tourism.

Rainforest Alliance Certified Coffee

Map of coffee-producing countries, highlighting those where Rainforest Alliance is activeLeticia Monzon is one of more than 25 million people in the world who depend on the production of coffee for their livelihoods. Her Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farm in the Guatemalan highlands is one small piece of the US$ 100 billion coffee industry. Coffee, one world’s most traded commodities, is the economic backbone of countries throughout Latin America, Asia and Africa.

Yet smallholder farmers in these coffee-growing regions face many challenges, including poverty, commodity price fluctuations and increasingly erratic rainfall patterns caused by climate change. Since 1995, the Rainforest Alliance has strengthened the position of coffee farmers by training them in methods that boost yields and safeguard the health of the land for future generations. All of this is part of our global strategy to ensure the long-term well-being of farm communities, as well as the forests and wildlife on which we all depend.

More than 160,000 coffee farmers are safeguarding the health of more than 2.3 million acres (945,000 ha) of land through our training and certification.
